Hospitality – Enhancing Guest Experience
 

The Hospitality segment today is on the threshold of massive expansion. To be able to maintain their position in the market and to expand their customer base technology, will be the major game changer for the segment.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is poised to make a major impact on the hospitality industry. The technology with its HF & UHF version is increasingly finding new areas to make the hospitality segment more innovative. For the major segment in the hospitality industry i.e hotels and lodging establishment, system like RFID based locks have already made a major entry. UHF RFID is poised to solve the age old problem of creating a “Barrier Less” Access Control in the segment which ensures both high security and safety for the guests and staff. Asset Management, by use of both Active and Passive Tags, reduces the shrinkage in high value items of such establishments whilst RFID based laundry management systems ensures that the guest rooms are always equipped with good quality linen and bathroom accessories.

For the Tour Managers, RFID now provides effective tags to help tour operators keep an eye on their precious guests some of whom cannot even speak the local language and other’s who may be suffering from disabilities which may require special attention. The major areas of use of RFID in the Hospitality Industry are :-

1. Enhanced Guest Experience.


 

Invisible identification helps the hospitality industry in providing exceptional service to VIP guests as and when they visit the hotels. Guests are vowed by the experience of being recognized by the staff and being looked after with all their likes and dislikes documented and adhered to. UHF RFID makes this happen thus greatly enhancing the guests experience of loyal and special guests. This seamlessly helps the staff serve their guests better thus ensuring loyalty and repeat visits to the property.

Such systems are managed either through loyalty cards or through special room key cards which help in dual function of providing security in the hotel RFID locks and identification of guests for highly improved service levels. The UHF or Duo RFID card is read without any swipe with the read distance of around 1 to 1.5 meters. Dolphin Compact Handheld RFID reader can read the card and provide all information about guest, like Name, Company, Photograph, his last visit information and any other information as per individual hotel/hotel chain requirements.

Similar cards can be used for security purpose to provide constant Track & Trace for all hotel employees in the hotel vicinity. This single card can carry out multi-farious functions like Time & Attendance, Restricted entry to various back-of-the house areas and count of employees in various areas – an invaluable information in case of emergencies which may require evacuation.


2. People Monitoring.


People Monitoring helps in tracking and monitoring the people for access control and also for security purposes. Can also be used as check-in/check-out system for employees where attendance can also be stored for employees.

Unauthorized movement of a particular person can be tracked and alerted accordingly. Each user can be identified by an RFID tag and 24x7 monitoring is possible with location control.

 

People Movement and Monitoring System is used for:

3. Asset Management.


 

Asset Management means not only identifying and maintaining Assets, but also tracking of current location zone wise or pin point location. Using RFID Technology, an Asset can be identified, authenticated, verified, issued, tracked and maintained with complete automation. An Asset or a batch of Assets can be verified at In and Out, Issue or Receive automatically and alerts the User accordingly. Not only improves the speed of work flow, but also eases the work with wide range of user friendly reports.

4. Vehicle Management.


 

Vehicle Identification means being able to automatically indentify a vehicle when it enters a parking facility, so it can be authorized and permitted to enter and exit. Using an advanced Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system, you are able to identify a vehicle as it approaches the gate, allowing the parking system to authorize entry and open the gate, without the driver ever having to stop or open their window. This not only improves traffic flow in peek periods, but also provides the customer with a save convenient way to enter the garage. At the same time entry exit log is also being maintained for Security & Safety requirements.

A small windshield-mounted Tag, approximately the size of a 2”X4”, fits neatly into a windshield-mounted with Corporate Logo and design. The RFID Reader is mounted at gate and identifies the vehicle by reading the ID-Tag while the vehicle is approaching the barrier/gate. This process is fully automated and takes just a fraction of a second. The Tag's identity is passed to our Vehicle Identification system which controls the Vehicle Authorization and vends the gate.

 


5. Laundry Management.


 

Laundry management is a complex operation that has a tremendous bearing on individuals and organizations for whom their garments are a veritable extension of their images.

Quality and timeliness of delivery together with taking care of special washing, drying and storing / packaging instructions emerge as the key differentiators in this industry.

RFID Technology simplifies the process of Laundry management with remote supervision using Tags and saves costs. RFID Laundry tags are resistant to high temperature and are water proof. So RFID tags can be used while washing or ironing of clothes very effectively.

Complete database of user clothes are maintained and clothes of a particular user can be tracked very easily with a single search method.
